Zebras are not just black and white, but shades of brown. It was a labor of love to paint this marvelous creature from the San Diego Zoo (who turned to look at me while I was photographing it). Each zebra's rear end pattern is unique and is used for identification by zoo personnel. Juror Jill Desmond, Associate Director of Exhibitions at the Denver Art Museum, said this painting shows a "mastery of watercolor" during her gallery walk and talk of the 2011 All Colorado Show.
I am passionate about nature-oriented subjects, and the birds and animals fast disappearing on our planet. I will continue to paint a variety of subjects, but my goal is to become known as a wildlife artist. I will keep painting what I love. Enjoy!
